‘Development of Research Skills’ Program held at Female Campus

The Vice-Dean’s Office for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at female campus organized a 3-day program for developing faculty members and students’ research skills at female campus. The following workshops were conducted on the first day: - Introduction to Scientific Research, presented by Dr. Sa’adya Al-Kabeer, and focused on the following topics: 1. Importance of scientific research 2. Types of research 3. Programs funded by the Deanship of Graduate Studies - Plagiarism, presented by Dr. Fatima A’amer, and focused on the following points: 1. What is plagiarism and its different types 2. Plagiarism detection software 3. Permissible percentage of plagiarism 4. Ways to avoid plagiarism The following workshops were conducted on the Second day: - How to choose a research topic, presented by Dr. Sana’a Dawood and it focused on the following topics: 1. Definition of research skills 2. Skills of research 3. Steps of writing a research proposal 4. How to select a research topic - Requirements of good research proposal, presented by Dr. Omaira Al-Rasheedi and it addressed the following topics: 1. Outline of research proposal 2. Introduction of research 3. significance of research 4. objectives of research 5. limitations of research 6. Literature review 7. Research gap 8. Outline of research proposal 9. Conclusion, results and recommendation 10. Index and references The following workshops were conducted on the Third day: - How to write a literature review, presented by Dr. Arafa Jebreel and focused on the following topics: 1. research gap 2. purpose of literature review 3. how to read previous studies 4. steps of writing literature review - Research methodology , presented by Dr. Sadya Al-Kabeer and addressed the following topics: 1. purpose of research 2. selection of research topic 3. Issues to be avoided when selecting a research topic 4. research problems and hypothesis 5. research proposal
