DEANSHIP OF IT LAUNCHE TECH PROJECTS IN A CEREMONY

MU rector, Dr. Khalid Al-Mugren has patronized the ceremony held by the Deanship of Information Technology (DIT) to launch a number of up-to-date tech projects in the presence of vie-rectors, deans, directors and faculty staff. The ceremony was also attended by the director of e-Government Program (Yasser), Eng. Ali Al-Asiri, director of e-security center, Dr. Saleh Al-Mutairi, advisor of governor of Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization, Eng. Sultan Abo-Khasheem and deputy-director of Mobily for strategic planning and marketing, Eng. Majed Al-Otaibi.
The ceremony began by a speech for the Dean of IT, Dr. Mohammed Al-Waneen who emphasized the primary role played by the DIT in facilitating the communication between the university staff. Achieving high ranking by the DIT is attributed to the unconditional support of MU rector and the follow-up of Vice-rector.
Dr. Al-Waneen then launched the first version of MU intranet and its app on smartphone. These two projects were developed to include all essential services used by staff on regular basis. Approximately 80 % of the project cost was saved as it was developed by a group of the university national staff, said Dr. Al-Waneen.
A presentation was then made highlighting the aims and features of the new intranet which is expected save time and effort. The intranet is simply a one-page website that packs all the services and data a staff may need as well as accessing the wide-range of systems provided by the university via single sign-on.
After launching the two projects, MU rector gave a speech commending the effort to develop this outstanding service for the university staff.
At the end of the ceremony, MU rector accompanied with all guests have visited the associated exhibition to get an idea about the major achievement of DIT.
