A rhetorical ceremony was held on this occasion which began by a speech delivered by Dr. Ahmed Al-Rumaih, Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs, who expressed his gratitude to sign this MoU, an opportunity that many prisoners are likely to avail themselves of its services.
The articles of the agreement stipulate that MU should provide a wide-range of educational services such as BA in some majors based on prisoners’ interest, Diploma (one or two years) in human resources and computer, long and short courses in human resources, computer, English language and entrepreneurship. Educational labs are also to be set up by the university along with conducting workshops for prisoners who are sentenced to long period in prison.
Major general Al-Asmari addressed the audience and explained the strategic plan of the GDP which is based on four major topics: category, infrastructure, technology and partnership. The partnership topic, according to Mr. Al-Asmari, is the most important as it requires a collaboration with experts.
In line with the National Transformation Program 2020 and Kingdom’s Vision 2030, the GDP is planning to set a reform plan that is based on high-profile partnership.
Addressing the audience, MU Rector, Dr. Khalid Al-Mugren, welcomed the guests and said that signing this MoU is subsumed under the university’s goals to serve the community. The objectives of the MoU take into consideration manpower development, a concern for developed countries as one of the requirements for development.
