In the presence of MU rector, Dr. Khalid Al-Mugren and Prince Faisal bin Abdullah Al Saud, Director of National Center of Assessment and Evaluation at the Ministry of Education, MU hosted the 22nd meeting of Admission and Registration’s Deans of Public Universities in Saudi Arabia. The basic aim of this meeting is to exchange ideas and thoughts related to admission and registration in attempt to come up with the best practices to improve the process of admission and registration.
At the outset, MU rector extended his appreciations to the unconditional support that the education sector receives from the government of this state. Special thanks were also expressed to the deans who attended the meeting as well as the organizing committee for their efforts to manage this event.
Dr. Al-Mugren was content to be among the academicians who are responsible of one of the deanships that entail a great deal of responsibility, and that one is the deanship of admission and registration.
“Transparency, integrity and equality are essential factors for this discussion to pay dividends” added Dr. Al-Mugren who also stressed that that communication and opinion exchange among the deans should even continue after this meeting is over.
The meeting then began with the first session which was chaired by Prince Faisal Al Saud, and it focused on three topics: the admission committee and academic evaluation, a unified e-portal of admission for Saudi universities and a proposed regulation for scholarship-students.
The second session, chaired by Dr. Ahmed Al-Rumaih, has addressed the following topics: admission committee and academic evaluation, admission based on area of residency, double admission, linking schools’ system with Yasser.
The last session was chaired by Dr. Wasil Al-Swat and a number of topics were discussed related to finding out a unified mechanism to calculate general certificates and examine the feasibility of achievement tests in theoretical majors for female students.
