The Saudi leadership always proves that the way to excel in knowledge and research is one of the most important ways which receives interest and sponsorship; therefore the government provides its great support for new-established institutions and research centers, to be able to deliver its scientific message as well as playing its assigned role in serving science and the nation. The generous approval of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz to establish a Research Center of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of al-Majma’ah is not but a translation of this good approach. Thus, we extend our many thanks and gratitude for the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, we also appreciate the great role played by the Council of Higher Education to establish this center. Thanks are also extended to His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education Dr. Khalid Bin Mohammed al-Angari and his Deputy for their tireless efforts in pushing the endeavors of management and organizational development for the University and all of its units including colleges, institutes and research centers under the leadership of His Excellency Dr. Khalid Bin Sa’ad al-Muqrin, Rector of the university. This approval, the establishment of Research Center of Engineering and Applied Science in the University, is to emphasize that the strength of any nation is measured by its achievements for the sake of knowledge as well as its distinguished research potential. The science of engineering is one of the most important sciences full of inventions and innovative designs that do not reflect the industrial and economical renaissance of any nation, but in all fields in our contemporary applied reality. We hope that this newborn center – in collaboration with the faculties of Engineering and Science and Scientific Departments in the faculties of education, science and humanities – is one of the most important centers of scientific research in engineering fields that largely contribute effectively in solving many problems and issues of engineering, especially with related to the development of industrial cities, such as Sudair City for Industry and Business. We also hope that the center will provide a unique research environment to foster innovation and creativity that can achieve outstanding research projects with local experience and global footprint. We reiterate the thanks to Almighty God, who guide our wise leadership for such decisions that value the scientific research in our country, and encourage researchers and innovators with support, which guarantees the excellence of our scientists and greatness for our countries.
