VICE-RECTOR GIVES RECTOR THE CERTIFICATE OF INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS (OHSAS 18001) OF THE COLLEGES OF SCIENCE AND APPLIED MEDICAL SCIENCE

Added to the achievements of Majmaah University, Vice-rector Dr. Mosallam Al-Dosary, accompanied by the Director of the Administration of University Environment and Occupational Health serving also as manager of Laboratory Preparation Project of the Colleges of Science and Applied Medical Science, gave Dr. Al-Muqrin, Majmaah University Rector, the certificate of international standards (OHSAS 18001) concerning the colleges of science and applied medical science. The certificate is concerned with occupational safety system on campus, and is issued from the German Accrediting Agency (DAKKS). Dr. Dosary has provided a detailed explanation about the stages of preparing laboratories of both colleges for the fulfilment of the requirements of the international standards as well as the main obstacles that faced the progress of the project. Additionally, Dr. Dosary told the rector about the wonderful work environment of this project, since both colleges have shown full cooperation and excellent teamwork which resulted in the avoidance of stumbling blocks to the success of this project. “Obtaining the certificate doesn’t mean that our work is over, but it is a testimony that the university is on its way to the application of an effective system of occupational safety which supports the university attempts to provide a safe and supportive environment for creativity,” Dr. Dosary said. The rector has commended the efforts of the university agency in providing the means of success and facilitating the university work. “This achievement is the result of the efforts of a number of administrations including the General Administration for Maintenance, General Administration for Occupational Safety and the General Administration for Financial Affairs along with the colleges of science and applied medical science targeted by this project.” The rector said. “The university considers its human cadres its real investment and the willingness to offer a safe and supportive university environment is the real guarantee for excellence and leadership,” he added. Dr. Muqrin stressed that the safety international standards must be applied to all laboratories at the university during the next 2 academic years.
