His Excellency the Rector, Dr. Khalid bin Saad al Muqrin, inaugurated the university and community forum, which was organized by the university in the Colleges Compound in Zulfi under the motto (Our University is the Way of Our Development), in the presence of His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Abdullah bin Hamid, Imam and Preacher of the Holy Mosque and the Adviser at the Royal Court, Rector of Saudi Electronic University Prof. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Mousa, Governor of Zulfi, Faihan bin Labdeh, and the participation of many specialists from university professors.
On this occasion, the ceremony started by reciting Holy Quran, then the audience watched a documentary movie about the experience of the University during the three years that followed the Decree of its foundation. Then Dr. Mohamed Al Shaya, Vice Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research and Vice Chairman of Higher Committee of the Forum, delivered a speech explaining that the establishment of this forum is an evidence of the university leaders' faith of the inevitability of local development as a strategic objective which the university seeks to achieve in the geographical areas surrounding it. He added the forum highlights the role of the university in the local development and in the constructive interaction between the university and the local community. His Excellency the Rector, Dr. Khaled al Muqrin, delivered a word in which the thanked the Government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his highness Crown Prince and the Second Deputy for its unlimited, unstinting support for higher education in general and Majmaah University in particular, as well as the follow-up and guidance of Dr. Khaled Al Anqari, Minister of Higher Education. At the end of this ceremony, his Excellency the Rector Dr. Khaled Al-Muqrin, honored the participants in the sessions of the forum of specialists and professors . Then his Excellency Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Abdullah bin Hamid, Imam and Preacher of the Holy Mosque and the Adviser at the Royal Court, chaired the first session, which was entitled (the university and the local community) during which his Excellency the Rector, Dr. Khaled al Muqrin reviewed the experience of the university in the local development , reviewing initially the goals of higher education in the Kingdom, coming through the Ninth Development Plan and the role of universities. He also mentioned the role of the university in the local and sustainable development , where the university formed scientific groups to monitor and measure the achievements and initiatives carried out by the university, and their contribution to the economic, social and cultural fields.
Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Mousa, Rector of Saudi Electronic University, talked about the role of universities in local development, noting the real challenge for university higher education institutions in the development of economic knowledge, which represents the economy that is based directly on production, dissemination and use of knowledge and information in the various service and productive activities. His Excellency Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Humein Al Humein, chaired the second session under the title "role of the university in the development" with the participation of Dr. Mohammed bin Othman Al Rukban, who clarified the role of the university in health development. Dr. Mohammed bin Nasser Al Swaid mentioned research priorities in community issues, Dr Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Tayar stated the role of endowments in supporting the university researches and harnessed them in serving the community, and Dr. Mansour bin Othman Al Dhewaihi talked about the role of the university in sustainable development.
The third session was about the need of society for development, where Dr. Mazyed Bin Ibrahim Al Mazyed presented study about the need of community for development, Dr Nasser bin Ali Al Jarallah also talked about entrepreneurship and their role in the local community, Dr Abdullah Ahmad Al Dahsh talked about the needs of society and the role of the university in meeting them, Dr. Tarek Hassanein Ismail concluded the session by reading the indicators of local development.
The third session chaired by Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Youssef, under-secretary of Ministry of Social Affairs. During the forum, his Excellency Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Abdullah bin Hamid, Imam and Preacher of the Holy Mosque and the Adviser at the Royal Court, and his Excellency the Rector , Dr. Kahled Al Muqrin , opened the associated exhibition for Deanships, Colleges and Departments forum of the University.
