MU SIGNS MEMO OF UNDERSTANDING WITH KING SALMAN CENTER FOR DISABILITY RESEARCH

MU Rector, Dr. Khalid Al-Muqrin, signed a memorandum of understanding with the King Salman Center for Disability Research, represented by His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdul-Aziz, Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

The Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Mohammed Al-Shaya, said that the agreement included many aspects of cooperation between the two parties:
1- Joint work on the development of disability-related research and fields.
2- Coordination and cooperation in research studies in disability.
3- Workshops on issues related to disability.
4- Highlighting the magnitude of the disability problem and classifying its cases at different educational levels.
5- Raising the educational level of academic programs, achieving their efficiency and suitability for people with disabilities.
6- Establishing a joint strategic research center at the University and the center.
Dr. Khalid Al-Muqrin, MU Rector, commended King Salman Center for Disability Research under the leadership of Prince Sultan for his efforts in serving the cause of disability and the handicapped.
Dr. Muqrin also expressed his appreciation for the signing of the agreement, which “will enable the University to provide all its potentials of laboratories, technical expertise and education to serve the programs and research of the Center and contribute to its mission and objectives.” “This agreement shows our strong determination to achieve the University objectives in this regard,” he concluded. 
The Center aims to develop expertise and competencies in the field of disability research and to enrich knowledge in the fields of prevention and multiple care, which will benefit both parties. This cooperation seeks to achieve the national goals set by the government to serve disability issues.
The University had previously implemented a number of projects that have been serving the handicapped by creating a suitable environment and offering mobile training centers and transportation services with well-equipped busses for them. Additionally, the University has signed several agreements with governmental, civil and community organizations for community service.
Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdul-Aziz, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Salman Center for Disability Research, valued this partnership with the University, stressing that the scientific, practical, technical and specialized research capacity in disability research on campus can help in the accomplishment of the mission and objectives of the Center, expressing confidence in the capabilities of the people of this country, and looking forward to benefiting from these partnerships in the future, which will contribute significantly to the establishment of research that benefit the handicapped and serve their cause. 
His Highness pointed out that the Center seeks to activate all partnerships, programs and initiatives, emphasizing the full support of the founder of the Center, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, of the handicapped cause in addition to several related projects and programs.
