A SEMINAR HELD BY MU ON PSYCHOLOGICAL AND SOCIAL EFFECTS OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN

On the international day for the elimination of violence against women The College of Medicine at MU held a seminar at the main campus auditorium entitled “Psychological and Social Effects of Violence against Women”.

Two figures participated in the seminar which was moderated by Mr. Ahmed Al-Osailan, and they are; Prof. Abdelrahman Al-Attram, Consultant psychiatrist and head of the Psychiatry Department at College of Medicine, and Dr. Hanan Ismael, Associate Professor of Mental Health at College of Education.

The seminar addressed different topics, including violence against women and its various forms and the psychological effects resulted from that, raising public awareness to fight it, protecting women’s rights, introducing official authorities that can be referred to when violence occurs and the achievements of Saudi Arabia in empowering women.
