20250804812CIFAL Saudi Arabia concluded its participation in the 22nd CIFAL Global Network Annual Steering Committee Meeting (XXII CIFAL GN Meeting), held in London and organized by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). The meeting was hosted by CIFAL London in partnership with Global Education (GEDU), and brought together leaders and representatives from CIFAL centers around the world.
During the meeting, CIFAL Saudi Arabia presented highlights of its 2025 initiatives in capacity building and the localization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It also outlined its strategic priorities for 2026, aligned with Saudi Vision 2030 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Agenda. These efforts received strong recognition from the United Nations Assistant Secretary-General, the Executive Director of UNITAR, and senior UNITAR leadership.
The participation also included a series of coordination meetings with CIFAL leaders from across the global network, focusing on opportunities for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the development of cross-regional initiatives. As part of the program, the delegation visited the UK Parliament, where Saudi Arabia’s development experience was showcased and commended by a member of the House of Commons for its significant achievements.
The delegation also met with the UK Minister for Artificial Intelligence, engaging in discussions on the role of AI in advancing sustainable development and capacity building. The visit further included a tour of the University of Surrey, where the delegation met with the university’s president and city leadership to explore future opportunities for academic and research collaboration.
As part of the accompanying program, the CIFAL Saudi Arabia delegation visited Global Education (GEDU), the host institution of this year’s meeting, where they reviewed its international education models and discussed potential areas of cooperation in sustainable education and capacity development.
This international participation was supported by the University leadership, under the guidance of MU Rector and with close follow-up from the Vice Rector for Development and Investment.
