MU SIGNS MOU WITH ALINMA BANK TO ADVANCE ISLAMIC BANKING RESEARCH

Majmaah University (MU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Alinma Bank, represented by Secretariat of its Shariah Committee, to strengthen academic, research, and training collaboration in the fields of Islamic banking and Islamic financial jurisprudence. The agreement aims to support scientific research and advance specialized Shariah knowledge.

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by MU Rector, Prof. Saleh Al-Mezal, and Alinma Bank’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mr. Abdullah Al-Khalifa. The agreement was signed on behalf of MU by the Dean of the College of Shariah and Law, Prof. Omar Al-Omar, and on behalf of Alinma Bank by Sheikh Yasser  Al-Murshidi, Head of the Shariah Sector and Secretary-General of the Bank’s Shariah Committee.

The MoU aims to facilitate the exchange of academic expertise, conduct joint research and studies, and collaborate on the peer review of Shariah-based research. It also includes cooperation in organizing scientific forums, workshops, and specialized training programs, contributing to the development of academic and research capacities for both parties.

Furthermore, the agreement focuses on the development of Shariah-compliant banking products, encourages innovation in Islamic financial solutions, and enables the exchange of consultations, academic resources, and research data in accordance with approved regulatory frameworks.
