MU Rector, Prof. Saleh Al-Mezal, welcomed H.E. Mr. Nodirjon Turgunov, Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, accompanied by the Uzbek Consul, in the presence of several university leaders.
The visit aims to highlight the importance of strengthening international cooperation to enhance the quality of education, advance scientific research, and open new horizons for joint and innovative programs and initiatives between the two sides.
As part of the visit, the embassy delegation met with the Vice Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Mohammed Al-Shehri to discuss how to expand cooperation in several fields including academia and scientific research. The delegation also toured key university facilities, including the Engineering and Applied Sciences Research Center, the Health and Basic Sciences Research Center, and the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center.
Prof. Al-Shehri stressed the importance of international collaboration in education and research. Scholarship opportunities will be available to Uzbek students through the Study in Saudi Arabia platform along with opportunities for learning the Arabic language, added Prof. Al-Shehri.
Dr. Bader Al-Harbi, Supervisor of the Knowledge Exchange and Scientific Societies Department, underscored the role of international cooperation in achieving the goals of higher education in line with Saudi Vision 2030. He pointed out that such partnerships enhance knowledge exchange, share expertise, and contribute to sustainable development by advancing education, research, and innovation across diverse academic and scientific disciplines.
