Overview

Students who complete the Health Informatics program are ready to enter the quickly changing healthcare IT industry. By integrating data management, information technology, and healthcare, the initiative seeks to improve the effectiveness, safety, and quality of healthcare delivery. Students acquire hands-on experience in gathering, storing, analyzing, and exchanging health data using digital technologies and information systems. Graduates are prepared for employment in research facilities, hospitals, public health organizations, and health technology firms, where they use cutting-edge technical solutions to enhance healthcare.

Objectives

  1. Articulate the proper informatics management tools for health organization.
  2. Identify information and data needs of research projects or program users and stakeholders with health organization.
  3. Describe the information system development, procurement and implementation needs that meet the public health program needs within health organization.
  4. Design and monitor the security management system of patient records.

Requirements

General Admission Requirements:

To be admitted to MU, applicants must fulfill the following conditions. The Deanship of Admissions and Registration Affairs reviews applications based on these criteria: 

  1. An applicant holds a high school diploma or its equivalent from inside the kingdom or outside.
  2. An applicant should have received his high school diploma or its equivalent since five years or less.
  3. An applicant must succeed in any test/interview appointed by the MU.
  4. An applicant must be of good conduct.
  5. An applicant must get a study approval in case he works for a governmental or private hand.
  6. An applicant must be medically fit.
  7. An applicant should meet any other conditions specified by the MU Council.
  8. An applicant should not be expelled from another university for disciplinary or educational reasons.
  9. It is not permitted to accept people obtaining a bachelors degree.
  10. It is not permitted to accept students enrolled in another university degree to get another bachelors degree from the same university or another.

Admission Criteria for Applied Medical Sciences College:

  1. An applicant must have a Saudi Secondary School Certificate - Science Section (SSSCSS) or its equivalent. The secondary school certificate should not be more than five years old. The Rector of MU may grant an exemption from this condition.
  2. An applicant must have an Aptitude Test Certificate (ATC) administered by the National Center for Assessment in Higher Education. The minimum qualifying scores for the SSSCSS and ATC tests are a total equivalent percentage of 75% (based on 30% from the SSSCSS, 30% from the ATC, and 40% from the cumulative basic Science of SSSCSS).
  3. An applicant must not have been dismissed from another university for disciplinary reasons.
  4. Priority is given to those with higher grades, When applicants exceed availability.

Distribution of Students among Various programs of Applied Medical Sciences:

  • All students at CAMS are required to complete a foundation year before being admitted to their chosen program in level three.
  • To be eligible for admission to HIF program, students must achieve a minimum GPA of 3/5 after the completion of the foundation year.
  • The allocation process to various programs at CAMS is carried out according to the interest of the students and the capacity of each program after meeting the required GPA.
  • Priority is given to those with higher grades, When applicants exceed available capacity.
  • The final status of all students is submitted to the Deanship of Admission and Registration within a pre-specified period each Term.
