Overview

It is a program designed to train distinguished professionals in Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh) and its principles (Usul al-Fiqh), equipping them with the skills to compete in both local and international job markets. Through educational, research, and community services, the program adheres to quality standards, contributing to the nation’s sustainable development.

Objectives

  1. To prepare scientifically and professionally qualified individuals with strong knowledge and skills in Islamic Jurisprudence and its Principles.
  2. To develop students’ jurisprudential aptitude, enabling them to derive rulings, reason analytically, present evidence, conduct evaluation, perform comparative analysis, and give preference in accordance with the principles and foundations of Islamic law.
  3. To enable students to connect theoretical knowledge with practical applications, contemporary issues, and modern-day jurisprudential challenges.
  4. To enhance students’ critical and creative thinking skills, communication abilities, technological proficiency, and applications of artificial intelligence.
  5. To equip students with the skills and ethics of scientific research.
  6. To meet the needs of society in areas such as judiciary, fatwa issuance, education, and legal consultancy.
  7. To adhere to the requirements of social responsibility and contribute to achieving the goals of sustainable development.
  8. To instill the values of moderation and balance, and to foster a well-rounded personality grounded in Islamic and national values.
  9. To enable students to pursue advanced specialized studies in Islamic law.
  10. To prepare outstanding international students in the field of Islamic studies through scholarship programs.

Requirements

Admission Requirements:

  1. ⁠The applicant must be Saudi or hold an official postgraduate scholarship if they are non-Saudi.
  2. ⁠Must have obtained a bachelor’s degree from a Saudi university or a recognized foreign university in Islamic Theology (Usul al-Din) or Sharia, or an equivalent specialization.
  3. ⁠Must have good conduct and behavior and be medically fit.
  4. Must provide two academic recommendations from professors who have previously taught them.
  5. ⁠If employed, the applicant must obtain approval from their employer.
  6. Must have obtained at least a "Very Good" GPA in their undergraduate studies. However, the Graduate Studies Council may accept applicants with a "Good" GPA, provided their GPA in specialized courses is at least "Very Good".

Additional Requirements:

  1. Pass the aptitude test with a minimum score of 70%.
  2. ⁠Pass the written admission test.
  3. ⁠Admission criteria weight distribution:
    • 25% - Aptitude test score
    • 25% - Written test score
    • 50% - Bachelor’s GPA
  4. ⁠Memorization of five Juz' (sections) of the Qur’an.
  5. ⁠Successfully pass the personal interview conducted by the department.
