About Program
The Master of Science in Renewable Energy Engineering program at Majmaah University aims to keep pace with the Kingdom's development in achieving Vision 2030, through the National Industrial Development Program in the energy sector. The program also contributes to achieving sustainable development for the Kingdom, as renewable and alternative energy is one of the goals of sustainable development.
The program seeks to qualify national cadres with sufficient knowledge and skills to implement and manage the Kingdom's projects in the field of renewable energy, which are included in the National Renewable Energy Program. It also aims to support scientific research and engineering innovation to achieve excellence and leadership in the field of renewable energy.
Obtaining a Master of Science degree in Renewable Energy Engineering requires the completion of 35 credit hours, distributed as follows:
- 23 credit hours of compulsory courses.
- 6 credit hours of elective courses.
- 6 research hours (thesis).
The program includes courses that address energy systems, alternative energy sources, and applications of renewable energy systems, in addition to studying energy efficiency and integrating renewable energy sources into the electricity grid. The program also includes elective courses that focus on smart control in the electric power system, smart grid systems, and energy storage systems. The program aims to graduate engineers with sufficient knowledge and skills to conduct advanced and sustainable scientific research in renewable energy to meet the needs of society and the labor market, and to keep pace with the aspirations of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in achieving its vision.
The objectives of the Master of Science in Renewable Energy Engineering are to prepare professionals that are able to:
- Demonstrate the ability to solve complex renewable energy engineering problems.
- Practice and inspire high ethical and academic standards and communicate their achievements and accomplishments to colleagues and to the community.
- Lead their professional disciplines, organizations, and communities and maintain a desire for research, innovation, and lifelong learning.
- Renewable Energy Engineer: Designing and developing renewable energy systems such as solar, wind, and hydroelectric power plants.
- Energy Consultant: Advising businesses and governments on energy efficiency, renewable energy solutions, and sustainability strategies.
- Project Manager: Overseeing renewable energy projects from conception through completion, ensuring they meet technical specifications and are delivered on time and budget.
- Sustainability Officer: Implementing and managing sustainability initiatives in organizations to reduce environmental impact.
- Research Scientist: Conducting research in renewable energy technologies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and develop new solutions.
- Energy Policy Analyst: Analyzing and developing policies to promote renewable energy adoption and sustainability.
- System Design Engineer: Designing systems for the integration of renewable energy sources into existing power grids.
- Sales Engineer: Selling renewable energy technologies and systems by understanding and demonstrating their technical aspects to potential customers.
- The applicant must hold a bachelor's degree or its equivalent from a Saudi university or a recognized foreign university (an official equivalency certificate is required if the degree is from a non-Saudi university).
- Submission of the General Aptitude Test for University Graduates.
- Submission of a standardized English language proficiency test.
- Submission of two academic recommendations from professors who have previously taught the applicant.
- Payment of a non-refundable application fee of 150 SAR.
