Rector's Award for e-learning Excellence

E-learning is a major tributary for academic education and continuing education, the need for this type of learning has increased with the increasing numbers of students willing to join university education which are beyond universities carrying capacity.  This type of learning is rapidly developing and modern technologies are constantly renewed to keep pace with this development through e-learning systems, e-content and e-learning objects. Here; the roll of concerned authorities appears by activating e-learning to adopt solutions that are compatible with the technology in this field; this interest is reflected in the university initiative represented by the Deanship of e-learning and distance education to organize the Excellency Award for academic e-learning which focuses on the use of educational technology and information in the academic education. This is taken from the principle to motivate and encourage educational institutions, develop creativity and innovation, spread the spirit of competitiveness to enrich the e-learning process, appreciation for achievers in the field of e-learning, deepen the concepts of creativity and innovation through adopting distinctive standards in the application of e-learning and achieving the unified efforts between the various educational units at the university to improve learning outcomes.

Concept:

Excellency Award in academic e-learning derives its basic idea from the E-learning Excellency Award organized by the National Centre for e-learning and distance education. Excellency Award in academic e-learning at the university is regarded as a fundamental and preliminary step towards competition to win the E-learning Excellency Award organized by the National Centre for e-learning and distance education.

A pioneer award for excellence and innovation in the field of e-learning and distance education in its various applications and undertake achievers in various fields in order to reach a prominent rank among Universities of Saudi Arabia which qualifies to reach a distinctive rank for the award locally, regionally, and internationally.

Contribute to improve the performance of e-learning and distance education and its applications through motivating members to give the best techniques and use of finest theories of learning and education to employ them in the educational software. Also undertake the achievers in this field, and spread the spirit of positive competition and cooperation, which contributes in building a distinguished e-learning community.
