Celebrating the International Day of Disability, the CIFAL Saudi Center held the fifth meeting entitled: Hearing disability among Parents and the child’s acquisition of language, “Influence and Treatment" on Wednesday, 12/06/2023 in the presence of many academics and faculty members.
The meeting was moderated by His Excellency Dr. Ali Al-Dakhil, Associate Professor of Special Education and the Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research.
Dr. Al-Dakhil introduced the meeting by pointing out that the meeting is within the framework of the cooperation between the Saudi CIFAL Center and the Social Responsibility Observatory to accelerate the achievement of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
The first theme of the meeting was addressed by Prof. Abdul Aziz Al Othman, Professor of Special Education and the Dean of the College of Education at MU, which focused on reviewing the concepts related to hearing disability.
Dr. Saleh Al-Harithi, Associate Professor of Linguistics and the Vice Dean of Admission and Registration, addressed the second topic: The effect of the parents’ hearing disability on the child’s language acquisition.
Dr. Bader Al-Sulami, a faculty member in the Special Education Department, discussed the third topic: proposed mechanisms to address the impact of the parents’ hearing disability on the child’s language. He discussed the suggestions that can contribute to addressing the impact that the parents’ hearing disability has on the child’s language acquisition.
