This necessitates the establishment of an entity that is organizationally linked to the university’s senior leadership, serving as an arm through which the university can effectively carry out its responsibilities in implementing the tasks required under Vision 2030.

It is an administrative department that is responsible of community service and social responsibility. The observatory designs, implements, follows-up and evaluates initiatives to achieve the university’s goals with regard to community service and social responsibility.

Given the universities' goals and mission as well as their role in addressing the community's issues along with education and research, social responsibility is an important and urgent field.

The General Administration of University Safety and Security was initially a security and safety unit, linked to the Services Department that was established since the founding of the university.

The Security and Safety Unit was separated from the Services Department and linked directly to the General Administration of Administrative and Financial Affairs on 01/06/1433 AH.

تختـص العمـادة بالإشـراف على جميـع العمليـات المرتبطـة بالتقنيـة والأنظمـة الإلكترونيـة والبنيـة التحتيـة للجامعـة وأنشـطة التعليـم الإلكترونـي وتفعيلـه في كليـات الجامعـة ومـن ذلـك:

كانت الإدارة العامة للسلامة والأمن الجامعي في بداياتها وحدةً للأمن والسلامة ، وترتبط بإدارة الخدمات التي أُنشئت منذ تأسيس الجامعة .

تم فصل وحدة الأمن والسلامة عن إدارة الخدمات وربطها مباشرةً بالإدارة العامة للشؤون الإدارية والمالية بتاريخ 1433/6/1هـ .

وبقرار من معالي مدير الجامعة رقم (906) وتاريخ 1435/8/11هـ تم فصل وحدة الأمن والسلامة من الإدارة العامة للشؤون الإدارية وربطها بوكالة الجامعة تحت مسمى الإدارة العامة للسلامة والأمن الجامعي .

و جهة إدارية وفنية أنشأتها الجامعة في إطار تفاعلها مع وظيفتها في مجال خدمة المجتمع ومجال المسؤولية الاجتماعية، حيث يتولى المرصد إدارة هذا الملف من خلال بناء وتنفيذ ومتابعة وتقييم وتطوير المبادرات المحققة لأهداف الجامعة في هذين المجالين.

تعد رؤية المملكة 2030 من المجالات المهمة للجامعات وذلك بحكم طبيعة عمل الجامعات وأهدافها ورسالتها ودورها المؤثر في المجتمعات وقدرتها على دعم قضايا التنمية المترتبة على الخطط التنموية . الأمر الذي يحتم عليها إيجاد جهة ترتبط تنظيميا بالإدارة العليا في الجامعة لتكون بمثابة الذراع التي تستطيع الجامعة من خلالها القيام بوظيفتها في تفعيل المهام المطلوبة منها في مجال رؤية المملكة 2030 . ومن أجل ذلك عملت الجامعة على إنشاء مكتب لتحقيق رؤية المملكة 2030 ليكون هذا المكتب هو الجهة التي تتولى إدارة ملف تحقيق متطلبات الرؤية في الجامعة ونطاقها الجغرافي .
