What is the concept of institutional self-study?

It is a process carried out by a team from the university with the participation all its employees to monitor the current situation of all a university departments and units and listing their strengths and weaknesses. The self-study uses the standards of the National Authority for Academic Accreditation and Evaluation and tends to set out the strategies and future plans to improve quality and achieve the requirements of institutional accreditation for the university. 

What is the benefit of an institutional self-study?

The institutional self-study process is of great benefit to all university employees.

First: students:

- It helps in making the admission and registration process efficient and fair.

- Providing academic guidance and counseling services for students during study until graduation

- Evaluating the programs offered by specialized experts, employers and graduates so that they are precisely defined and consistent with the national qualifications framework and employment requirements, as well as comparing them with high-level external programs.

- Evaluating the learning resources, facilities, equipment and services

Second: a faculty member.

- The faculty member participates in appropriate activities to improve their efficiency to carry out their responsibilities

- The faculty member applies teaching strategies appropriate to the programs offered.

- Having a clear strategy for scientific research 

Third: administrators.

- Technical support is provided for professional development, performance development, and recognition of outstanding performance.

Fourth: the university.

- Quality is linked to all activities of colleges and deanships by engaging stakeholders in the evaluation and planning processes.

- Obtaining university accreditation helps to accredit programs in colleges and places it in the ranks of the leading universities at the national level.

- Ensuring access to adequate financial resources to ensure the continuity of the university's development.

What are the bodies responsible for the university’s self-study process?

All university departments, deanships, and colleges are responsible for the institutional self-study process in coordination with the Deanship of Quality and Skills Development.

What are the procedures for the university's self-study process?

First: Prepare for the preliminary  self-study process

Second: Implement the preliminary self-study

Third: Write the final report for the preliminary self-study

First: Prepare to carry out the institutional self-study process

It starts with official announcement and highlighting the general objective of institutional self-study. This is followed by the formation of the advisory committee, the main committee, and the evaluation sub-committees, and the committees' work strategy for each stage should be defined.

The committees should have representatives from all the academic and administrative units of the university. The media campaign for self-study is implemented internally and externally. The evaluation process is carried out in accordance with the eleven institutional standards of the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Evaluation.

Second: Implementation of the preliminary self-study

The Committee members are qualified for evaluation work and the plans and mechanisms that have been developed by the advisory committee are approved. The institutional evaluation standards of the National Commission for Evaluation and Accreditation are used, with the participation of officials, employees and the local community in self-study procedures. 

Third: Writing the final report for the preliminary self-study 

When writing the report, it should be written as an executive summary that provides a description of the steps that have been followed and a presentation of the results that have been reached according to the standards that have been used. It should include strengths and shortcomings, and provide a summary of the evidence that support the results along with all work teams reports attached. The report also includes an evaluation of the scientific departments and programs with the final recommendations of the report.

What are the standards of the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Evaluation for Institutional Self-Study?

To implement the institutional self-study procedures for the university, MU adopted the standards prepared by the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Evaluation, and they are:

5- Department of Student Affairs and Support Services

What are the preparations of the university and the deanship to complete the preliminary self-study?

Administrative was provided by the university administration for self-stidu.

A guidance committee was formed under the chairmanship of the Rector and a main committee supervised by the Vice Rector and chaired by the Dean of Quality and Skills Development, and sub-committees for self-study.

Experienced consultants participated in the self-study process.

An executive plan for the university's self-study process has been prepared

The documents of the National Authority for Academic Accreditation and Evaluation, which are necessary to ensure quality at the institutional level, have been made available on the Deanship’s website and distributed to those concerned electronically on a CD.

Conducting a workshop for the university's self-study committees to qualify them on how to carry out the tasks assigned to them.

Conducting periodic meetings with members of the university's self-study committees at its various levels.
