ADVISORY BOARD OF THE ENGINEERING COLLEGE HOLDS ITS FIRST MEETING

The students’ consultants council the College of Engineering held its first meeting on Tuesday 18 Rabi ath-Thani  1435 H, corresponding to  (18 February 2014 ). The council consists of the Dean of the College as a Chairman of the Board and its Secretary with six students elected by their colleagues at the College as representatives, two students from each department. 

The Chairman of the Board has welcomed the members of the council and highlighted the importance of the students’ consultants council at the College of Engineering due to its vital role of expressing the students concerns with regard to nonacademic matters at the Departments and the College as well.

 The Chairman added that the Council represents all students and does not represent the students of the Council only, and the Council has to play an active role by listening to the views of other students with regard to issues related to the services provided by the College to students.

A number of topics were discussed in the meeting such as: the timetables, exams, summer engineering internship, training courses, summer semesters, labs and technicians. The board has issues a number of recommendations:

(1) The College should explore more opportunities for summer internship at various sectors

 (2) The members of the Council should undertake the task of listing down the students’ interests with regard to the curriculums of the next summer semester

(3) The Council shall hold a meeting once every month during the academic semester.
