What may use to be acceptable to students in the past, may not be necessarily sound acceptable to nowadays students due to the Informational Revolution that invades our world and which compel us to cope with rapid changes in our society, especially in university mediums where opinions and values are engraved in students personality. Thus, our university makes commitment to care about student guidance and education and to revisit the guidance services provided to student vis-à-vis the needs of nowadays life. With this profound speech, His Excellency, Vice Rector Dr. Ibraheem Al-Hugail Presented his perspective regarding Student Guidance and Education in the Sixth Meeting of Vice Rectos of Saudi Universities which was Held in the Islamic University in Al-Medina Al-Munawarah. His Excellency noted that dealing with the issue of student guidance in our present era should be different from the past, therefore; we should be innovative in our way of dealing with students, and we should also make use of modern technology and digital revolution in communicating with students as well as enhancing the positive change in their behavior. Dr. Al-Hugail also referred to the role played by the government in supporting the development of Saudi universities in this field as well as training cadres who are wisely able to deal with student problems, and eventually offer suitable solutions and advice. Moreover, those cadres should provide students with long-term advice to prevent students from involving in serious matters like addiction and ideological terrorism. His Excellency complimented the Ministry of Higher Education under the patronage of His Highness Professor Khalid bin Mohammad Al-Angari, Minister of Higher Education on signing a number of agreements with Saudi Universities to develop programs and services of student guidance in Saudi Universities. As a result, these agreements have intensified the competition among universities in providing various guidance services, so it was regarded as a turning point to enhance this field. Dr. Al-Hugail stated that guidance programs are able to build up university students spiritually and intellectually along with raising the awareness of students about themselves and to engrave the feeling of patriotism. Moreover, guidance programs will hone students’ skills, make use of their innovative aptitude, increase the spirit of competition among students and relate them with their university and society so they participate in voluntary works that serve their community. Dr. Al-Hugail, in his paper, called upon all Saudi Universities to intensify exchanging experience, research findings and case studies in the field of university student guidance. He also emphasized on the importance of consulting specialties that are highly qualified to achieve their guidance objectives. Finally, Dr. Al-Hugail stated that being able to succeed in our guidance programs is a step forward in building up a generation of innovators and distinguished leaders whom the country will be proud of.
