“READING FOR ALL” FESTIVAL AT THE COLLEGE OF EDUCATION IN ZULFI”

Based on the strong belief of The College of Education in Zulfi in the importance of reading, which represents the nation’s disabled weapon, in developing the nation intellect, student activities department attempted to spread cultural awareness and cultural activities as part of the department plan for this semester through a project entitled “Reading for All” in attempt to encourage female students to read using innovative techniques in order to develop the habit of reading in all fields. The project activities began on Saturday 17/4/1433 H where Arabic Department distinctively participated in activating the project via inviting all college departments and units to attend the program “Reading for All” on Wednesday 21/4/1433 H. Arabic department students assisted in organizing and preparing for the program with the supervision of Dr. Abeer Badawi and Dr. Eman Saeed as well as the follow up of Head of Department Dr. Fahad Al-Mulhem. The program was initiated by a recitation of the Holly Qur’an followed by two presentations for two students, Naseebah Al-Sulaiman and Maha Al-Azmi about reading where they mentioned about the importance of reading and its benefits as well as the importance of reading for kids. Students of the department participated with brochures and status that express the importance of reading. There was a corner allocated for books and their summaries. The activity of Arabic Department witnessed a large audience from faculty staffs. Not only the college implemented the project for its students, however; the college students conducted a competition during their visit to the Fifth Elementary School on Monday 19/4/1433 where simplified stories were distributed as prizes for the competition. In an opinion poll for students, they extended their thanks for such kind of program and suggested holding various competitions including reading comprehension, reading a book as well as holding workshops about various types of reading.
