In Ramadan of 1430 corresponding August of 2009, the approval of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Abdulaziz Aal Saud (May Allah have mercy on him) was declared to establish Almajma’ah University that is six years old now. These six years were full of success, diligent work and integrity. This is a result of what has been provided to the university of support, devices and follow-up by our government. We are witnessing the great efforts exerted and the preparations being made in order for the university to complete the role it was established for. In fact, throughout the past six years of its establishment, the university attained a large number of achievements and noble work that are honorable. The university serves a great geographical area that includes Almajma’ah, Alzulfi, Alghat, Remah as well as Hootat SAdeer center. It was established to accomplish the goal of the Ministry of Higher Education for expansion in university education and helps accept the incredibly increasing number of high school graduates. The university started with nine colleges: Faculty of Education in Almajmaa’h, Faculty of Education in Alzulfi, Faculty of Sciences and Humanities in Hootat Sadeer, Faculty of Community in Almajma’ah, Faculty of Sciences in Alzulfi, Faculty of Business Administration in Almajama’ah, Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences in Almajma’ah, Faculty of Sciences and Humanities in Alghat and Faculty of Engineering in Almajma’ah. Allah’s guidance was along the way of the start of the university as amazing national leaders and excellent academic cadres were appointed. Consequently, the university became independent of all the universities it used to be affiliated with in a very short period of time. So they started to develop the infrastructure of the university, design the programs of the various departments, provide all its needs of lecture halls, laboratories, devices in order to create a suitable educational environment to attract the teaching staff of high qualifications as to complete the academic and administrative units in the university. Moreover, the university would be able to start work independently according to the most innovative academic plans and programs followed in the oldest and well-established universities. This made it easy to apply everything in accordance with the organizational structure that was prepared by a group of experts in the field of higher institutions management with the focus on developing the university staff abilities through courses, programs and improving skills of all systems in the university. This enabled the university to transfer from the state of building to the state of developing and expanding by establishing the faculty of medicine in Almajma’ah, facialty of dentistry in Alzulfi, faculty of sciences and humanities in Remah, and faculty of computer sciences and information in Almajma’ah. So the number of faculties has reached 13 now. In addition to that, all the primary deanships were established as well as five centers for researches, studies and counseling services. Admission and registration programs have been activated electronically and putting into effect the network linking between the university and its branches. Consequently, the university has achieved excellence in the field of information technology and electronic systems and completed the system of safety and security in all the university buildings and activated the research enters to start producing a generation of excellent researchers and design a comprehensive plan for scientific chairs. They are going to execute a comprehensive plan to develop the main library and the branch libraries and put it on the international map of university data institutions and achieve fundamental steps in the area of academic accreditation. Moreover, a number of master’s programs were brought up to discussion with the continuation of supporting scholarship and training programs. The university also contributed to social development through what the Deanship of Community Service offers of services that include advanced diplomas and bridging programs, deals, training and cooperation with a number of sectors as well as signing understanding partnerships with a number of ministries, institutions and official bodies. Moreover, the university finished executing its strategic plan with the participation of an internal and external partners. They are working now on designing the second strategic plan for 1440-2020. The university opened wide horizons of cooperation with a number of international universities, expertise houses, special centers and developed cooperation tool with them in order to exchange expertise, experiments, and academic and administrative data. The university is continuing to benefit from the results of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques program for overseas scholarship and participate in several conferences and local and international exhibitions and educational and scientific weeks as well as the occupation Day in some foreign countries. In addition to that, the university has established mobile medical and educational services for the society as a whole by opening clinics, laboratories that would visit cities and villages. Female and male students, who are the heart of the educational and scientific process, are offered various educational and entertaining programs by Deanship of Student Affairs, and they are linked with the electronic portal to experience different academic situations and display their academic status easily according to an accurate electronic system and provide all their needs that would help improve their skills and abilities which resulted in winning bronze and golden medals at the Arabian and international arena in a number of inventions the university prides on. Moreover, the number of female and male students has tripled from 7000 in 1430-1431 to 22000 in 1434-1435; more than 4000 work in faculties, deanships and other bodies in the university. All praise be to Allah, several batches graduated and cerebrations were held during the first six years of establishing the university. Moreover, the university celebrated the opening of the first buildings in the university city in Almajma’ah in the presence of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the colleges complex in Alzulfi. They are great scientific institutions fully equipped with occupational, administrative and scientific needs. They were founded in accordance with the most innovative criteria of international universities. In addition to that, the university city plans were completed with all faculties, sporting city, university administration, student dormitory, subordinate deanships and housing for the teaching staff. The university has established urgent buildings to receive the increasing number of students in Almajma’ah; they also signed a contract with a number of national establishments to build urgent buildings for male and female students in Alghat campus, Remah campus as well as Hootat Sadeer campus. This has been done perfectly with the blessings of Allah, and the unconditional supports from the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. Also, the great budgets were designed and allocated for the university with the follow-up and concern of his highness the Minister of Education, and what the university has found of cooperation from all government and private bodies and great interaction between the staff and the population have had a great impact on the progress of the university. It is a bunch of wishes that have been fulfilled; hopes have become reality throughout a small number of years with the blessings of Allah and handwork and determination of the university staff under the leadership of his highness the University Rector Dr. Khaled Sa’ad Almuqrin.
