The University Portal has achieved several accomplishments including its achievement of an assessment percentage of 90.07% in the comprehensive methodology used by the governmental program (Yasser) for analysis and assessment of public portals since April, 2016.
Furthermore, the Portal has been the fastest one in the kingdom with an average speed of 2.02 seconds. This was recorded by a test comparing speed of the Portal with other portals in Saudi Arabia.
The E-portal at the Deanship of Information Technology had taken careful and practical steps to reach such accomplishment: a search was done to identify the best and most modern techniques used in the field, then a comparison was made to select the best of which to apply, followed planning and implementation.
The director of the E-portal-Mr. Yusuf Al-Rukban- pointed out that the achievement was the result of all the efforts of the Portal personnel as well as the collaboration of Mr. Tarik Hawees- the director of Information Security at the Deanship.
A few procedures were conducted in order to guarantee the objectivity and transparency of the speed measurement:
• First, the speed was measured by an authentic international website ((pingdom) http://tools.pingdom.com) specialized in measuring such speed.
• Second, the speed was measured by 5 other websites from different geographical locations i.e. Texas (U.S), California (U.S), New York (U.S), Stockholm (Sweden) and Melbourne (Australia). Then an average speed of each portal was calculated.
• Third, the speed of several portals of Saudi universities as well as technical public institutions and companies was also measured and calculated.
• Fourth, it turned out after measuring the speed and calculating the average that Majmaah University Portal was the fastest with an average speed of 2.02 seconds.
DR. Adel Al-Saied- Dean of the Information Technology Deanship- thanked the University Rector for his ongoing support and follow up of that achievement.
