VISIT TO RIYADH RAILROAD PROJECT

 

Among the field visits organized by the Faculty of engineering at Majmaah University for its students, a College delegation led by the Dean, Dr. Abdullah Abdul Karim with a number of faculty members and a few college students-visited Riyadh Railroad project.

They were received by Eng. Walid Al-Akrash (Riyadh Railroad Project Manager), Eng. Abdullah Al Luhaidan (First Group Manager for Riyadh Railroad Project), Eng. Khalid Al-Kaied (Riyadh Railroad project engineer), and Mr. Sultan Al-Otaibi (from Public Relations).

The visit to that particular project stems from its significance as one of the key features of the vision of (2030) regarding the projects of infrastructure upgrade in accordance with the highest international standards and specifications.

At the beginning of the visit, the Dean of the College conveyed Majmaah University Rector’s greetings and his appreciation for hosting the College students.

The program of the visit has included an introductory presentation of the entire Riyadh Railroad project in terms of  the population of the city, the urgent need to improve services to meet this development, the reasons for selecting such project, its technical and financial studies, the various stages of its implementation of the lines stretching north, south, east and west throughout the city,  the problems encountered in the implementation phase as well as the solutions that  have been put forward and other similar projects that are concerned with the problems of transportation.  All queries were answered during the presentation.

The program also included a field visit to the construction of one of the tunnels for students to know the used techniques and the methods of construction

The visit has achieved a substantial success, where it was in accordance with the full program of the project management which included the hospitality. Agreement on cooperation between the college and project management for visits and field training for college students was also made.
