According to the directions of His Highness, the Rector of the University and the head of supervisory committee for Institutional self-assessment for the necessity of forming consultative councils in the colleges, the Deanship of Quality and Skills Development Organized a workshop under the title: "the Role of Consultative Councils in the Colleges and their Operational Mechanism." on Tuesday 24/3/1434 in the training hall in the Deanship.
The proceedings of the workshop commenced with a welcoming word presented by the Dean, Khalid Bin Mohammed Aljarallah, who appreciated the presence of the deans and secretaries of the colleges' Consultative Councils. Then he made presentation, defining and reiterating the role of the Consultative Council of a college in completing the requisites of the National Corporation for Evaluation and Academic Accreditation and to provide consultation on the content and quality of the programs. The aim of forming these consultative councils in the colleges included achieving cooperation and communication between the university and the community and utilizing the experiences of the consultative councils members in improving the outputs of the university.
The workshop highlighted the responsibilities of the Consultative Council in rendering technical support and providing academic and administrative consultation, which helps in achieving the mission and the vision of the university and the colleges. That would create true social partnership and facilitates evaluation of the performance of the university and the colleges. The duration of work and the mechanism of the meetings of the consultative councils have also been reviewed. Afterwards, the floor was opened for discussion and colleges viewpoints on this respect were reviewed. Some major recommendations were forwarded to improve the work mechanism of the committees. Finally his Excellency, the Dean, thanked the university Rector for his continuous support and guidance regarding the importance of realizing cooperation between the university and the community.
