Prof. Mohammed Al-Shaye, vice-rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, launched a new master degree program in biomedical engineering at the College of Applied Medical Science, in the presence of Dr. Fahad Al-Jaddou, dean of Graduate Studies and a number of deans and heads of department.
Dr. Al-Dufairi, dean of Applied Medical Science, considered the opening of the master program as a step towards the right direction due to its increasing demand in medical technology and treatment.
On the requirements of the program, director of biomedical engineering department, Dr. Mohammed Al-Sweid, explained that the two-year program is mixed mode and students are required to take core courses in Molecular and cellular biology science and medical engineering technology. “Students will also be guided in how to carry out a research which is likely to help students to pursue their higher education in the field” added Dr. Al-Sweid.
