The first-ever Startup Weekend Online: Unite to Fight Covid-19 was hosted by the Ministry of Education in Saudi in cooperation with Techstars and Google. A massive group of 800+ innovators attended the event as they craft sustainable solutions to tackle the pandemic. The goal of the event is to bring together the smartest minds alongside Saudi Arabian thought leaders to find solutions and adaptations to address the global pandemic.
The ‘Tryout’ team, under the supervision of Dr. Ayman al-Barakati, included the following students from MU: Nora al-Manea, Hessah al-Shaalani, Nora al-Turaiqi, Wafa al-Balawi (Tabuk University) and Rawan al-Issa (King Faisal University).
Among several teams, the ‘Tryout’ team was nominated by the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Center to take part in the event where it was selected among the ten best teams based on rigorous standards of the best international practices.
The basic idea of the team’s solution is to have a platform that virtually offer mental and therapy exercises to trainees as well as linking them with physiotherapy experts and trainers.
MU rector, Dr. Khalid al-Muqren, commended the achievement of the team which is unprecedented, praising the efforts of faculty members and students.
Special thanks were extended to the Vice-Rector’s Office for Graduate Studies & Scientific Research for its unconditional support.
Dr. Ahmed al-Rumaih, vice-rector, stressed the necessity of supervising students’ entrepreneurial projects which help in suggesting solutions to new emerging problems, hoping faculty members would share their experience with students to make their projects more competitive and successful in local and international market.
