A WORKSHOP HELD BY THE VICE-RECTOR'S OFFICE FOR GRADUATE STUDIES AND SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH ON HOW TO IMPROVE THE UNIVERSTIY'S RANKINGS

Under the patronage of the Vice-Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Mohammed Al-Shehri, the Ranking Department held a workshop entitled: The role of the departments in improving the university's international ranking.

The Vice-Rector, Prof. Al-Shehri launched the workshop by thanking the departments that contributed to improve the university's ranking this year, encouraging everyone to work hard propel toward improving the quality of educational and research outputs as well as the university's social and environmental responsibility.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Jaber, the supervisor of the Ranking Department, presented a comprehensive overview of the various academic rankings, such as: QS ranking, Times ranking, and Shanghai ranking, explaining the criteria used in these rankings, including academic reputation, quality of education, the importance of scientific research, and educational outcomes.

The Dean of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Ali Al-Saawi, highlighted the relationship between scientific research and academic ranking, and how research production and publication in peer-reviewed journals can have an impact on the university evaluation.

Dr. Almutawali Ismail, a member at the Ranking Committee, discussed the role of educational quality in improving academic rankings, and addressed quality standards such as: the quality of the teaching staff, the student experience within the university, and the evaluation of educational outcomes for graduates of all programs.

Lastly, the director of the Saudi CIFAL center, Dr. Ayman Al-Barakati, explained the relationship between the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and related international rankings such as: the Times Impact Ranking, and the QS Sustainability Ranking.

The workshop concluded by discussing the importance of these issues to improve the university's international ranking.
