A number of MU's faculty members won multiple awards in their participation in the Seoul International Invention Fair – SIIF 2024 which was held in the Republic of South Korea. The event hosted more than 520 inventors from 32 countries around the world.
The best invention award won by Dr. Ibrahim Al-Arifi, for his "artificial skeleton" that is designed to replace natural bones. The skeleton is weight and features a cylindrical engineering part that enhances its ability to absorb shocks.
Dr. Mohammed Abu Amer's invention of "milk sterilization device" won the golden medal as one of the best 20% of the inventions. The device uses multi-stage hybrid technologies with ultraviolet rays as an alternative solution to traditional pasteurization that negatively affects the taste and color of milk.
A special award was presented by the Research and Innovation Council of the Kingdom of Thailand to Dr. Saad bin Al-Anzi, for his invention of the “Circular Cutting Tool” for removing cataracts. It features a flexible ring and a sharp edge that is inserted through an incision in the cornea and changes to its circular shape. This provides accurate and reliable cutting without the need for complex equipment or extensive training.
