His Excellency the Rector Dr. Khalid Al-Mugren launched on last Sunday 29/6/1433H the office of project management and its e-portal as well as the system of project management in a ceremony at the auditorium of the university with the presence of a number of leaderships from the university.
Eng. Abdullah Bin Saleh, director of planning unit and Eng. Aiman J. Al-Barakati, director of monitoring & control unit briefed the audience with project establishment and development which started on the 6th of Ramadan 1432H where SDIS for Information & Technology Co. began the project under the supervision of the project committee which includes Dr. Musallam Al-Dosari, general supervisor of the Rector’s office and Dr. Hamad Al-Omran, consultant of the Rector.
The project began by making an assessment for the current situation PM followed by a training and development for the directors of the projects in collaboration with a Canadian consultant from ECBD Consulting Inc as well as a number Saudi consultants who are certified in the field of PM. A number of workshops & meetings were conducted based on the directives of the Rector come up with the final structure and function of PMO. A consulting committee was also recommended to study the projects which support the office in providing consultations as well as providing suggestions and solutions.
Eng. Mohmmad Al-Sahli, director of the project presented a summary about the internal portal of the project which includes news, photos, activities and lessons about the field of PM. It also includes manuals for the procedures and policy as well as usage of the system. A reference was made to the 2nd edition of the system which is expected to be finished by the end of the project.
At the end of the ceremony, the Rector Dr. Al-Mugren valued the efforts of participants in this projects including both leaders and staff. He also appreciated the efforts of the contractor for their punctuality in executing the project with high quality standards. He finally awarded some the university staff with certificates for their efforts.
