To make MU an advanced center for scientific research and innovation in the fields of science and engineering locally and globally by funding and encouraging faculty members to conduct research projects that achieve national strategic goals.

تأسس المركز في عام 1433 ه/ 2012 م بموافقة كريمة من خادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك عبد الله بن عبد العزيز – رحمة الله – تحت مسمى مركز البحوث الهندسية والعلوم التطبيقية، حيث يسعى المركز إلى ربط البحث العلمي بالاحتياجات الوطنية والمحلية والقطاع الخاص لتشخيص تحدياتها وتقديم الحلول لها بهدف التنمية الاقتصادية الشاملة. كما يسعى المركز بتشجيع الابتكارات العلمية ودعم الباحثين وتزويدهم بالموارد اللازمة بالإضافة إلى وضع خطط وأولويات بحثية للأقسام الأكاديمية المتعلقة بالمركز ومتابعة أدائها.

The Engineering Research and Applied Sciences Center was established in 1433 AH / 2012 with the approval of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz - may God have mercy on him - under the name of the Engineering Research and Applied Sciences Center. The center seeks to link scientific research with national and local needs and the private sector to identify their challenges and provide solutions to have a comprehensive economic development.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia considers scientific research, development and innovation to be of paramount significance and among its top priorities to achieve the Kingdom’s vision of 2030), namely to be among the top 10 countries in the Global Competitiveness Index by 2030.

This  Global Competitiveness Index depends directly on research, innovation and development which provides the Kingdom an opportunity to improve its position regionally and globally through the quality of research.

تولي المملكة العربية السعودية اهتماما كبيرا بالبحث العلمي والتطوير والابتكار وتضعه في مقدمة أولوياتها وذلك سعيا منها في تحقيق رؤيتها الوطنية بعيدة المدى (رؤية 2030) والتي ترتكز على أن تكون من بين أفضل 10 دول في مؤشر التنافسية العالمية بحلول عام 2030.

يعتمد مؤشر التنافسية العالمية بشكل مباشر بالبحث والابتكار والتطوير ويمكن تحسين مكانة المملكة إقليميا وعالميا من خلال جودة الأبحاث والتي تتم عن طريق رفع مستوى نضج منظومة البحث والتطوير والابتكار بالجامعات السعودية.
