His Highness the Rector, Dr. Khalid Al-Mogren revealed that the university was established 3 years ago with 4 Saudi academicians who were PhD holders and nowadays reaches 70 faculty members and 300 lecturers. His Highness the Rector who presented his paper in the conference titled “scientific majors in newly established universities; challenges and solutions”, held in the auditorium of the main campus, stated that the University is based on two academic approaches which are accreditation of curriculum in accordance with reviewed guidelines by esteemed universities and; attracting cadres based on their qualifications. His Highness the Rector stated that the achievements of the University in comparison to the duration is a commendable job which all attributed to the efforts of the University staff as well as the government support. In a paper presented by His Highness titled “newly established universities; Majmaah University as a model”, he mentioned that the University is undergoing its 3rd year as an independent university administratively, technically, academically and financially. He also stated that the University went through hardships with regard to the infrastructure, regulations and academics. Therefore, teamwork was formed to tackle this matter. The paper was presented in a speech ceremony held on the occasion of the 1st international conference titled “ newly established universities; scientific specializations “challenges and solutions” which was initiated with beautiful recitation of the Holy Quran followed by a speech for the Head of the scientific committee Dr. Mohammad Al-Rukban in which he emphasized that the conference came as a result of the recent developments witnessed by the Higher Education. He mentioned that the University has received tens of papers which were reviewed in accordance with scientific criteria. After that, a speech was delivered by the deputy head of the conference and the vice-rector for academic affairs, Dr. Mohammad Al-Shaya’a where he mentioned the objectives and the agenda of the conference as well as the criteria of reviewing academic papers. After that, the Department of Public Relations and University Media viewed a documentary film titled “achievements and aspirations” which presented the history of the University and development since its establishment with a focus on the number of colleges and deanships as well as administrative and academic staff. It also emphasized the increase of students’ number from 700 students in 1430 to 16000 students in 1433. The number of staff has also increased from 450 staff to 3500 staff and faculty members. A discussion session was held followed by rewarding participants and contributors in the conference and exhibition. After that, His Highness the Rector inaugurated the accompanied exhibition of the conference which includes a presentation of the whole colleges and deanships of Majmaah University in addition to several educational and academic services.
