The Saudi Cifal Center organized the 12th meeting entitled: Artificial Intelligence and Youth Skills “Empowering Skills for Future Professions” via video conference, and in the presence of a group of academics and advocates. The meeting was hosted by Prof. Faris Al-Maliki (Professor of Space Communication Systems Engineering at Taif University, and Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Pioneering Ambassadors in London). The meeting was moderated by Dr. Dalal Al-Mutairi (Deputy Dean of the College of Engineering at Majmaah University), who pointed out that this meeting is held to celebrate World Youth Skills Day.
Quoting the Crown Prince's statement that Saudi youth is the backbone of this country, Prof. Al-Maliki said that innovation is the ability to present ordinary ideas in non-ordinary ways, pointing out that students should have linguistic proficiency and familiarity with United Nations initiatives to compete in the labor market.
Prof. Al-Maliki explained that the World Economic Forum stresses that credentials are not long enough, but rather students should have a whole host of skills required by the labor market, highlighting that artificial intelligence is no longer limited to computer specialists. He explained that Vision 2030 depends on youths and so they must be armed with science, knowledge and skills.
The Human Capacity Development Program was addressed by Dr. Al-Miliki who said that it meets the needs and aspirations of all segments of society and is in line with the needs of the contemporary market.
