SENATE’S FIRST MEETING OF 1436/1437 AH

On behalf of the Minister of Education Dr. Azzam Al-Dakheel- Chairman of the University Senate- Majmaah University President, Dr. Khaled Al- Muqrin, chaired the first senate meeting of the academic year 1436/1437 AH. The meeting took place in the conference room in the Office of the University rector. Secretary General of the Council of Higher Education Dr. Mohammed Al-Shaye (through video conference), University deputies and deans of faculties and deanships attended the meeting. Dr. Al-Shayeh, Vice-rector of Graduate Studies & Research and the Secretary-General of the council, said that the rector started the meeting with showing gratitude and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz – God Bless Him- for his personal presence in Mecca to be of assistance to the pilgrims. Moreover, the Rector expressed his appreciation to the deans of faculties and deanships as well as administrators of all departments for their outstanding efforts and achievements last year. He stressed the need to move forward to maintain these accomplishments and exert more efforts in achieving further success and distinction in education and research in addition to community service, which helps Majmaah University fulfil its mission of serving and advancing our country. Afterwards, the senate discussed a number of topics on its agenda, where its members were briefed on the appointment of a few faculty members in different disciplines at the University. Instructions to complete the procedures of the faculty members’ appointments were given. Further, the senate reviewed the recommendations of the Scholarship & Training Commission (Scholarship and Extension of Scholarships) from 12/06/1436 AH. to 20/10/1436 AH. Likewise, the senate has approved the graduation of university students expected to graduate in the summer of the academic year 1435/1436 AH. Some cases of academically dismissed students in the academic year 1435/1436 AH were tackled, and decisions regarding some administration and academia have been taken. The senate has also adopted the mechanism of regulating the Orbital Observatory at the University.
