Academic Advising

The Training Unit in cooperation with the Department of English Language has conducted a course entitled “Academic Advising”.
Goals of the course:
- Learn about the importance of academic advising
- Learn about the levels of academic advising
- Learn about the skills of academic advisor
Academic advising is one of the essential services that has positive impacts on the growth of students academically, psychologically and professionally. It also provides students with necessary knowledge and skills that help them to improve their academic achievement. The significance of academic advising can be highlighted as follow:
- Create an optimal environment for students to excel
- Introduce new students to the university life
- Guide students to choose their major
- Encourage outstanding students and help underachieved ones
Thus, an academic advisor should possess some of the following skills:
- Leadership skill
- Planning skill
- Organization skill
