Utilizing the Results of Educational Courses to Improve the Quality of Educational Process
Under the direction of the Head of the Department - Vice Dean for Academic Affairs Dr. Zafer Al-Qarni and in the presence of the members of the Board, the Department of Educational Sciences at the College of Education held a workshop discussing the results of the department's courses for the first semester of the current academic year (1437/1438) as well as using them to improve the quality of the educational process by identifying and maintaining the strengths and weaknesses along with proposing appropriate ways to overcome such disadvantages from the point of view of the members. The workshop is part of the efforts of the Department of Educational Sciences at the Faculty of Education in Zulfi to improve the quality of the educational process and achieve the targeted learning outcomes for the graduate students of the College. Educational decisions constitute the common denominator of academic plans in academic departments and significantly contribute to the achievement of the mission and objectives of the College. Managed by Dr. Abdul Hakeem Radwan, Professor of Education at the Department and Head of the Quality Center at the College, the one-hour workshop was presented on the sidelines of the department's Board meeting on Monday 7/6/1438 at 8:15 am. Dr. Abdul Hakeem talked about the requirements of the labor market and the qualification of graduates to meet these requirements. Presented by both Dr. Othman Al-Ameen, Assistant Professor of Assessment and Evaluation at the Department and Dr. Mona Al-Sayed, Professor of Mental Health and Special Education at the Department, the workshop addressed the success rates of educational courses and the rates of excellence in addition to the significance of these ratios quantitatively and qualitatively. The learning outcomes, methods of evaluating them, formulating and analyzing their results, and preparing the final report for the evaluation were also discussed at the workshop. The workshop concluded with several recommendations as follows: • The need to formulate the learning outcomes of the teacher preparation programs, and to prepare the matrix of consistency of the objectives of the courses with the objectives of the Department of Educational Sciences. • Forming an internal review committee to evaluate the tests in the department. • Considering the consistency between the objective, the means and the evaluation method used to achieve the learning outcomes. • Making a comparison of the courses of the department with corresponding departmental courses from other local and regional universities, preferably accredited ones. • Updating the course descriptions in line with the requirements of the labor market. • Developing an improvement plan for the performance of the department. • Reviewing the specifications of the courses through a committee approved by the department Board and presenting the descriptions to the department's Quality Committee for approval. • Paying attention to developing the professionalism of faculty members in the department. • Initiating the unification of the examinations of the different departments and sections studying the same courses and enhancing the role of coordinator with his team in this aspect. • Considering the distribution of courses in accordance with the specialties of the faculty members of the department. • Re-reviewing the scientific disciplines of faculty members with the announcement of new members needed.،،
