The Zulfi Education College Conducts a Seminar on the Social Role of Education

The Community Service Unit at the College of Education held a communal educational seminar in the framework of the cooperative partnership between the public education represented by the Zulfi Education Department and the Deanship of Community Service and Continuous Education at Majmaah University in order to serve the community. It also aims to shed light on the importance of the social role of education with all its levels in the progress and development of society. The seminar was held on Tuesday, 03/04/1437 AH at the meeting Hall in the main building of female student departments and with the presence of the vice-dean for student affairs Ms. Muna Al Fawzan. Dr. Mona Tawakol, a member in the Community Service Unit who began the seminar with a welcome speech to the guests followed by a speech for Ms. Nora Farhud in which she talked about the role of public education in the service of the community and clarified that the term “community service” is relatively new to public education and that the Ministry of Education worked hard to encourage educational institutions to provide their best. As a result, King Abdullah’s project to develop public education is a case in point. Next, Ms. Mariem Al Batel talked about private educational programs and how it directed families to deal with people with special needs and training students for the job market. The counselor Ms. Hila threw light on the initiative of the Deanship of Community Service and Continuous Education in opening the Feminist community center in order to define its identity, objectives and mission, show the center's social activities and its initiatives that are in the service of the local community of the University , its most important achievements and its role in communication with the community institutions and attract thinkers and people of excellence to participate in the center’s programs. After that, Ms. Muna Al Fawzan talked about the most significant efforts of the Vice-Deanship for Student Affairs represented by the Unit of Guidance and Counseling and the Unit of Graduates and Student Activity integrity and the communal programs these units offered. The seminar ended with a brief speech by Dr. Mona Tawakul in which she dealt with some of the College initiatives in the service of society with all its classes such as workshops for leaders on youth awareness of juvenile delinquency, celebration of World Days like the day of Arabic language and the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, participation in national events like the National Day of the kingdom, providing a series of advocacy days, women's programs such as natural breast enhancement programs and childhood programs and their festivals , participating in raising pilgrims’ awareness and visiting institutions such as prisons, police, traffic, hospitals and some government departments, as well as the mobile oratory project, providing winter clothing for one hundred workers and participation in a series of intellectual seminars that contribute to the service of the community. In a fruitful interaction with all attendees, a number of recommendations were drafted including: 1. Strengthen the partnership convention between Majmaah University and the Zulfi Education Department to utilize the resources of two parties. 2. Formation of a committee from Majmaah University and Zulfi Education Department that meets quarterly to discuss all issues that may encounter the progress and success of two parties. 3. A need for concerted efforts to raise the level of social services in the local community in cooperation between the university and all the public and private educational institutions. 4. Invest in intellectual and scientific capital in the exchange of experiences between educational community parties and support programs and activities at the level of public and university education. The seminar, which lasted more than two hours with a rich dialogue of ideas, visions, aspirations and ambition, ended with providing high-quality community services that meet the needs and the requirements of the society for a sustainable development. The Community Service Unit represented by its president, his Excellency Dr. Abdul Aziz Alaiwi, extended thanks, gratitude and appreciation to his Excellency Dr. Rashid AlThanyen, the Dean of the Zulfi Education College, for being the sponsor of this seminar, to Dr. Omar AlChariofi, the Dean of the community service, for the opportunity to participate in this seminar and his support, his Excellency Dr. Saad Al-Mahmoud, the Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, for his follow-up and supervision of the seminar, and to all attendees and guests wishing everyone success, progress and reaching their goals.
