Reception Ceremony for Preparatory Year Students to join Engineering College
Under the patronage of the Vice-Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Saleh Al-Dohaish, the College of Engineering conducted a reception ceremony at the Clubs Hall in the College Building for the Preparatory Year Students who are interested to enroll on Wednesday 30\3\2016 at 11 A.M. The ceremony was attended by the representatives of the academic and administrative departments, the Head of Quality Center, Dr. Abdel-Rahman Al-Qawasmi, and the Head of Student Activity Association, Dr. Tariq Nabil. As usual, students were received and welcomed according to the College visiting protocols. The College Dean gave a speech welcoming the attendees and stressed that the goal of that meeting was to give answers for all the students’ inquiries about enrollment in the College of Engineering. He added that the College would be honored for their enrollment and asked them to devote their best effort at studying for the Preparatory Year to achieve their academic goal of enrolling in the College of Engineering next year. He also mentioned the importance of a fresh start in the study plan, in which choosing the first courses must match their scientific interest and capabilities, to get a high GPA in the academic record. Moreover, he encouraged them to strengthen their weaknesses by attending extra courses, workshops and the e-learning content. In addition, he also encouraged the students to improve their English language as it is the medium of instruction at the college of engineering. In his speech, the Dean confirmed on choosing the academic major in the College according to personal interest and academic performance. He invited them to visit the Website of Engineering College for more information on the academic majors. He also said it was urgent to be at the University Theater in the Campus on Monday 4\7\1437 AH to register for the intended academic major. Finally, the Dean provided an overview about the program which consisted of informative and instructive lectures on the College of Engineering. Afterwards, the program offered the students tours to the representatives of the Departments, so they identified the different Engineering majors in the College. The Head of Quality Center, Dr. Abdel-Rahman Al-Qawasmi, gave then a presentation on the main academic departments at the college, the branches of each department, along with the study plan needed for a Bachelor's degree in engineering and the role of Quality Center in continuously developing the Student’s performance for more academic advancement. In his turn, the Head of Student Activity Association, Dr. Tariq Nabil, explained in details the extracurricular activities in the college, and their usefulness in strengthening ties between the student and colleagues, which positively affect the student's future personality as a successful engineer. Subsequently, the representatives of the academic departments offered an overview of the academic majors in the College, the branches of each major and the prospected job opportunities for each branch. They also clarified to students some of the criteria they should follow upon completion of the courses in the Preparatory year in order to choose the right discipline in line with their academic inclination and professional orientation. The students were given detailed brochures outlining all academic majors and Engineering training programs. The visiting students then met the current students and exchanged information and advice on the elements of success and excellence at the College. Afterwards, the visiting students had the chance to visit the laboratory and workshop facilities in order to get a close look to the different engineering majors, so it would help them in choosing the major practically. At the end of the meeting, the Dean expressed his appreciation to all those who contributed to the success of that meeting, and called for everyone to continue participating in upcoming events for the benefit of the College, students and society in general
