At the request of the vice-rector, Dr. Khalid Al-Muqren, and the follow-up of the vice-rector for educational affairs, Dr. Mohammed Al-Obudi, a delegation of the university participated in the 14th Global Conference for Giftedness and Creativity, held in Cairo, Egypt under the patronage of League of Arab States.
The delegation -headed by the vice-rector for graduate studies and scientific research, Dr. Ahmed Al-Rumaih and supervised by the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Khalid Al-Ofaisan – included three students: Al-Baraa Al-Shehri, Bader Al-Masoudi and Yasser Al-Dheeb.
Present in the conference are the director of civil society organizations administration at Arab League, Dr. Farraj Al-Ajmi, the Saudi Cultural Attaché in Egypt, Dr. Ahmed Al-Fereih.
The aim of the conference is to ramp up public awareness of the needs for gifted and talented people, the importance of nurturing them and their access to equal educational opportunities that match their abilities. It also intended to disseminate knowledge about the latest theoretical and applied developments in the psychology of giftedness and creativity as well as Arab and international programs that meet the needs of gifted and creative students.
Dr. Al-Rumaih chaired the first session which included three speakers followed by the second session which was chaired by Dr. Al-Ofaisan and had five speakers from different countries.
The delegation also visited the Saudi Cultural Attaché where they were briefed about the role of cultural attaché. The visit ended by memorial photos and shield presented to MU.
