The College of Science conducts a Workshop on “Safety Symbols in Science Laboratories”

The Volunteering and Community Service Unit organized a workshop titled “Safety Symbols in Science Laboratories,” presented by Ms. Badriya Al-Shaye.

The workshop aimed to raise awareness and understanding of safety culture within university laboratory environments by introducing participants to various safety symbols and their meanings, including symbols for hazardous chemicals, protective equipment, and emergency signs.

The workshop also provided a detailed explanation of the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) and the internationally recognized symbols, linking them to real-life laboratory examples. It further explored key concepts such as the Safety Awareness Circle and the Triangle of Responsibility, including individual, administrative, and regulatory duties, to strengthen practical understanding of shared safety responsibilities.

The workshop concluded with key recommendations emphasizing the importance of knowledge, application, and continuous evaluation to ensure a safe working environment under the principle that safety is everyone’s responsibility. The final segment was dedicated to answering participants’ questions and sharing insights.
