The Vice-Dean's Office of the College of Science, represented by the Volunteer and Community Service Unit and in collaboration with the Department of Biology, organized a specialized scientific workshop titled “Methods for Preserving Live Biological Samples.” The session was delivered by Dr. Aisha Owhaj from the Department of Biology.
The workshop aimed to introduce participants to techniques and best practices for preserving live biological samples in ways that maintain their safety and allow them to be used later in studies or experiments without affecting their essential biological properties.
The session included a detailed overview of modern preservation methods such as cryopreservation and the use of biological preservatives, as well as an explanation of the scientific standards required when collecting, storing, and transporting samples to ensure their quality and suitability for research.
Participants also had the opportunity to engage in discussion and ask questions throughout the workshop.
