20250804812The Vice-Dean's Office at the College of Science, represented by the Volunteering and Community Service Unit in collaboration with the Department of Chemistry, organized a workshop titled “Chemical Methods for Controlling Optical Properties,”.
The workshop was delivered by Dr. Fawz Al-Zamili and explored the fundamental principles of chemical reactions that influence light absorption, emission, and transparency, as well as the role of molecular structure in determining the optical properties of different materials. It also presented practical applications, including the preparation of materials with enhanced optical properties such as nanoparticles, thin films, and smart polymers, along with methods to improve their efficiency in modern applications.
The workshop also highlighted the importance of applying these techniques across various fields, including medical industries, sensing technologies, and renewable energy.
The workshop aimed to equip participants with a deeper understanding of chemical control over color, brightness, and refraction, and to connect these concepts with modern applications in optics and advanced materials. It also provided an opportunity to strengthen research skills and scientific thinking.
