The 4th version of the e-portal for Majmaah University was launched by His Excellency the Rector, Dr. Khalid S. Al-Mugren and the presence of vice-rectors and some deans.
The ceremony began with a speech delivered by the Dean of IT Deanship, Dr. Omar M. Al-Mutaihi who explicated the developmental phases the e-portal has gone through until the current version which is deemed an integrated portal in accordance with the international criteria. The current version of the e-portal comprises more than forty sub-sites for all the departments of the University. Dr. Al-Mutaihi also mentioned some statistics about the e-portal. Dr. Al-Mutaihi eventually extended his thanks and appreciations to whoever contributed with substance and value in the works related to the 4th version of the e-portal, particularly His Excellency the Rector, Dr. Khalid S. Al-Mugren, vice-rectors, deans, directors of departments and e-portal supervisors.
The director of the e-portal, Mr. Yousif H. Al-Rukban reviewed the stages of stages of creating the 4th version of the e-portal which began with the preparation stage followed by the planning stage and finally the execution plan which lasted for more than 10 months and included training more than 40 supervisors on using the control panel of the new version. Then, the content of the 3rd version was transferred to a temporary site with ensuring that the current site is still undergoing during the time of transfer. The supervisors were provided with authorization to access the 4th version of the e-portal to modify the content. A translator, a designer and a technical supporter were assigned to respond favorably to the supervisors’ needs. All the sub-sites were revised and drawbacks were identified and successfully rectified. Mr. Al-Rukban also reviewed the new features of the 4th version which incorporated re-programing & applying a new design, adding a site for the media of the university, the location of the University, re-programing and designing the sub-sites and creating a mobile version.
The Rector, Dr. Al-Mugren gave a speech where he quantified and appreciated the apparent efforts of the IT Deanship in cooperation with other departments.
