A SEMINAR ON THE CONCEPT OF THE IDEAL LECTURE

The Unit of Excellence in Teaching and Learning held a seminar entitled " Conceptions on the Ideal Lecture" which was inaugurated by the college vice dean for academic affairs Dr. Wael AL Tariqi and in the presence of the college vice dean for student affairs Dr. Ziad AL Hussain, heads of departments and a number of faculty members. Dr. Tariqi welcomed the attendees and highlighted the importance of such meetings which back up and push forward the educational process in the college. The floor was then given to Dr. Naveed Yacoub, the unit member who conducted the first part of the seminar entitled "Illuminations on Learning Outcomes" in which he explained the importance of the sound formulation of the learning outcomes and the necessity to present them to students at the beginning of every lecture in addition to the need of complementarity between them and the assessment tools. The second part of the seminar entitled "Illuminations on PPT Presentations from a Pedagogical Point of view" was conducted by Dr. Omar Mahjoub the head of the unit in which he explained the basis of using PPT slides and the common mistakes instructors should avoid when using such a tool. Discussion was then opened for faculty members and students.
