The Volunteering and Community Service Unit organizes a course titled: "Biology in Our Lives"

The Vice-Dean's Office, represented by the Volunteering and Community Service Unit and in collaboration with the Department of Biology, organized a training course titled: "Biology in Our Lives". The course was presented by Dr. Zainab Al-Tahir and highlighted the importance of biology in everyday life.

The session began with a comprehensive introduction to biology, explaining its role in understanding living organisms and the ecosystems around us. Several key topics were addressed throughout the course, starting with human organs and tissues, where the functions of vital organs such as the heart, lungs, and liver were explained, along with the various types of tissues and their roles in sustaining life.

The course also discussed human genetics, explaining the basics of how traits are passed from parents to offspring through genes, and the importance of DNA in determining hereditary characteristics and predisposition to diseases.

The session also covered diseases and their causes, distinguishing between infectious diseases caused by microbes and non-infectious diseases linked to lifestyle or genetic factors.

In addition, the course highlighted the crucial role of plants in nutrition, medicine, and environmental preservation, emphasizing the human impact on the environment through pollution and depletion of natural resources.

The course concluded by emphasizing that biology is not merely a theoretical science, but a practical discipline that touches all aspects of life—from medicine to technology—and that understanding biology contributes to building a healthy and sustainable future.
