In compliance with the directive of His Excellency the Rector, Dr. Khalid S. Al-Mugren and the follow-up of His Excellency the Vice-Rector, Dr. Musallam Al-Dosari, a delegation of Information Technology Deanship paid a visit to a number of companies and institutions with experience in fields related to advanced technology in UK, London. The primary purpose of the visit is to learn more about the advanced technologies and the great potential of utilizing them in the university. The delegation includes the vice-dean, Dr. Khalid Abdullah Al- Draiweesh, the vice-dean for technical affairs, Mr. Fayez Suleiman Al-Harbi and the director of e-portal, Mr. Yousif Al-Rukban. One of the companies visited by the delegation is Rackspace Co. which is pioneered in e-cloud fields. Four workshops were conducted with the officials of the company in attempt to identify the possible means and ways of utilizing the e-cloud technology in the university. The visit also included Acquia Co. which is specialized in providing consultation and support for the management system of the e-portal (Drupal). A meeting was held with the officials and the technical support teams of the company to learn more about the services that might be offered to the e-portal of the university. The Dean of the Information Technology Deanship, Dr. Omar M. Al-Muteihi extended his thanks and appreciations to the Rector for his constant support which contributes in the advancement of the technological infrastructure of the university. This would result in providing excellent services to faculty members, staffs and students. Dr. Al-Muteihi also stated that currently the deanship strives to develop the e-portal of the university and utilize the successful the experience of others in this field.
