Advisory Board of the Faculty of Engineering Holds Its First Meeting

 

The  Council of Students at the Faculty of Engineering for the  current academic year held its first meeting on Tuesday 18 Rabi ath-Thani  1435 H, corresponding to  (18 February 2014 ). The Council is consisting of the Dean of the College as a Chairman of the Board and its Secretary with six students elected by their colleagues at the College as representatives of the Council, by two students from each department.  In the beginning of the meeting, Chairman of the Board has welcomed the members of the Council and addressed the importance of Student Council at the Faculty of Engineering, because of its role of showing the voice of students at the creativeness or revision of the nonacademic organizations at the Departments and the College as well.

 The Chairman stated that the Council represents all students and does not represent the students of the Council only, and the Council has to play an active role by listening to the views of the students on services provided by the College to them and propose solutions to them. Then the Council discussed the posed topics for discussion such as: timetables, exams, summer engineering implementation, training sessions, summer semester, labs and technicians. However, the meeting has come out with the following recommendations: (1) the College should organize its work more on searching for opportunities of summer implementation for students at sections and variety of more (2) members of the Council should undertake the preparation and arrangement of the wishes of students to present the curriculums of the next summer semester (3) the Council should hold a meeting once every month during the academic semester
