Advisory Council at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering Holds Its First Meeting
The Advisory Council of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering held on Sunday its first meeting for the current semester. The meeting was attended by the following members: Eng. Khalaf Al Otaibi, Municipality Head of Majmaah province, Eng. Mohammed Al-Sultan, Head of Temeir Municipality, Engineer Fozan Al Fahd, Director of Projects and Technical Affairs; Dr. Mahmoud Azmi, Advisor to MU Vice- Rector for Educational Affairs; Dr. Abdullah Al-Shehri, Head of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Department.The members discussed the joint cooperation between the Department of Civil Engineering and the local community in addition to the means of strengthening ties with the engineering departments in various municipalities to serve the interests of the students and the local community.The Council also discussed the study plan of the Department and feedback related to the current developments and requirements of the labor market. The potential advantages of opening a new major for water and space engineering were discussed in attempt to qualify more engineers specialized in the construction of metal and concrete bridges.Additionally, the council reviewed the learning outcomes of the Civil Engineering Program, its suitability to the current engineering market as well as the ways of developing these outcomes in order to keep abreast of continuous labor market developments.
