Deanship of Quality and Skills Development Delegation Visits College of Engineering

A delegation from the Deanship of Quality and Skills Development paid an official visit to the College of Engineering to follow up its achievements at the level of quality and readiness for academic accreditation. The deanship's quality advisors Dr. Mohamed Tharwat and Mr. Jamal Smida were received by the college dean Dr. Abdullah Bin Abdelmohsen Alabdulkarim, the college vice dean for quality and development Dr. Abdullah Bin Ali AL Mhisin and the college vice dean for academic affairs Dr. Salah Bin Ahmed AL Dahch as well as the quality units heads and the quality coordinators in the different academic departments of the college. The quality advisers first visited the Deanship of the college and the Archives and Data Documentation Room. Then, they attended a presentation given by the college vice deanship for quality and development. The presentation covered the achievements made in the current year such as setting the organizing of the quality units, fixing their mission, vision and duties in addition to the successes they made basing on the executive plans they set. The dean welcomed the delegates and highlighted the cooperation between the college and the deanship as well as the importance of such cooperation in achieving mutual complementary to develop academic programs and boost the learning outcomes in such a manner that matches the aspiration of the college to win both ABET and NCAAA accreditation and the aspirations of the deanship to promote the culture of quality and reach institutional accreditation. The college vice dean for quality and development mentioned that the deanship has a clear plan which relies on a well-prepared executive plan itself based on both the University's and the college's Strategic Plan and the follow up and review from the deanship of quality and Skills Development in what regards internal audit reports which contribute to the improvement and strengthening schemes of the college. He further explained that the structure of the college vice deanship for quality and development adopted the main structure approved by the deanship of quality in addition to setting a new unit tasked with the documentation and archiving of data. The vice dean presented then the achievements and future plans of the quality units namely the Units of academic accreditation, quality insurance, archiving and data documentation, training and development and the unit of follow up. The follow up unit, explained the vice dean, is in fact a new and important one in terms of following up the execution of operational plans of all units in the light of its importance in development and improvement. The advisers praised then the tangible development the college achieved at the level of quality and proceeded to the display of the report of internal audit of academic programs in addition to the discussions of the strengths and the areas for development. The parties discussed then the valuable remarks made by Dr. Tharwat on the measurement of learning outcomes and the remarks made by Mr. Smida related to the basic requirements to apply for international academic accreditation. By the end of the meeting the college dean and vice dean for quality and development thanked the team for the visit and the valuable remarks they provided the college with hoping for future constructive cooperation
